Prologue Composer and Prologue Music Director
Angus MacRae
Composer, producer, and musician MacRae’s extensive musical output encompasses solo albums, concert performances, and award-winning scores for theater, film, ballet, television, and contemporary dance. His innovative live scores include a number of collaborations with director Rebecca Frecknall, including music for nine onstage upright pianos in the Olivier Award winning Summer & Smoke (Almeida Theatre & West End); music for a solo onstage percussionist in A Streetcar Named Desire (Almeida Theatre & West End) and live and recorded music performed across four immersive spaces in the Prologue to Cabaret in London’s West End. In addition, he has composed music for numerous films, plays, and ballets, which have been screened at film festivals worldwide and performed at venues including Shakespeare’s Globe, the Barbican, Sadler’s Wells, and many more. Drawing on themes of memory and imagination, his immersive solo work transcends its classical roots to create transportive, elegiac compositions of unflinching emotional honesty. Spanning three albums and a number of EPs, his work has reached a global audience.
